D Rory Rawlyk (Medicine Hat, Vancouver, Prince Albert, Red Deer, 2000-03) signed a one-year contract plus option with Corona Brasov (Romania, MOL Liga). Rawlyk did not play professionally last season but had 14 goals and 12 assists in 43 games with Lausitzer Füchse (Germany, 2.Bundesliga) in 2010-11. His 14 goals were the most by a defenceman in 2.Bundesliga that season. . . .
F Marek Ivan (Lethbridge, Moose Jaw, 1996-98) signed a one-year contract with Novy Jicin (Czech Republic, 2.Liga). He had 19 goals and 25 assists in 39 games with Karvina (Czech Republic, 2.Liga) last season. . . .
D Andrei Lupandin (Brandon, 1995-99) signed a one-year contract with Dynamo Kharkov (Ukraine, Professionalnaya Liga). He had four goals and six assists in 18 games with Kharkivski Akuly (Ukraine, Professionalnaya Liga) last season. Kharkivski Akuly (Kharkov Sharks) asked to move down a level for next season and their place in the Ukraine PHL was taken by Dynamo Kharkov.

Former Edmonton Oilers F Fernando Pisani wants to build an outdoor rink in his yard. His home is in Sturgeon County, near Edmonton, and some neighbours are all for it and some are opposed. THE COACHING GAME:
Mark O’Leary is the Moose Jaw Warriors’ new assistant coach. He replaced Trevor Weisgerber, who spent two seasons with the Warriors. . . . O’Leary played 218 games in the OHL (Mississauga, Guelph, 2003-06) before going on to a five-year pro career that included stops in the AHL, ECHL and Central league. O’Leary, 27, last played in 2010-11 when he got into five games with the Central league’s Laredo Bucks.
