Lauer to Alberni Valley?

According to Jeff Bromley of the Kootenay News Advertiser, Brad Lauer, who resigned Tuesday after five seasons as an assistant coach with the Cranbrook-based Kootenay Ice, has agreed to take over as GM and head coach of the BCHL's Alberni Valley Bulldogs. The team is undergoing an ownership change, which is why the official announcement won't be made until next week at the earliest. . . . According to Vancouver Island’s A-Channel, former NHLer Alan Kerr, who played in the WHL with Seattle, will be part of the Bulldogs' new ownership group. Bromley points out that Kerr and Lauer were linemates for a while with the NHL's New York Islanders. . . . The Bulldogs have been without a coach since Dave Whistle resigned in mid-June. GM Randy Buffie is part of the present ownership group.

Kootenay GM Jeff Chynoweth told Bromley that the Ice put out the press release on Lauer's resignation at 9 a.m., and within 10 minutes the first resume had arrived.
