The Boston Globe reports that C Zach Hamill of the Everett Silvertips, the eighth pick in the 2007 bantam draft, got a US$87,500 signing bonus as part of his three-year, entry-level contract with the Bruins. Hamill, 18, will get $875,000 a season with the Bruins. It’s a two-way deal that will pay $65,000 a season in the AHL. The Bruins’ AHL affiliate is in Providence. He also could earn $500,000 per season in bonus money. Hamill, the WHL’s defending scoring champion, is expected to spent a third season with the Silvertips and make the jump to the pro game for 2008-09.
Jim Ingram seems likely to be named the next head coach of the BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters. He would replace Tim Kehler, who has signed as an assistant coach with the WHL’s Swift Current Broncos. Ingram is head coach of the Kerry Park Islanders, a junior B team that is the Vancouver Island junior league’s two-time defending champions.
