Odds and ends

Monday Night Football. First half. Donovan McNabb. Ten completions. One for more than eight yards. Guess he couldn’t play in the CFL. . . .

Jaws mentions Washington fullback Brad Sellers . . . Except that his name is Mike Sellers. . . . How long before someone from Winnipeg informs Jaws of that? Sellers played for the Blue Bombers a while back. . . .

Early in the second half. Charles Barkley is in the booth. This will the highlight for this game. . . .

“When I played here,” Barkley says, “I made the all-star team eight straight years and they booed the hell out of me.” . . . In other words, McNabb won’t finish this season as the Eagles’ starter . . . even if he’s healthy. . . .

Frank Thomas hits three homers for the Toronto Blue Jays and TSN, in its halftime sports update, leads with an NHL exhibition game between Pittsburgh and Montreal. Yes, it’s all Sidney, all the time. . . .

Just wondering but when does O.J. start looking for the real thief. . . .

You’re cheating yourself if you’re an NFL fan and you don’t head over to si.com every Monday morning to read Peter King’s Monday Morning Quarterback. . . .

Do you think Red Sox fans know that the Yankees are 3 1/2 back with 12 to play? . . . Do you think Red Sox fans know that the Yankees are only three back in the loss column? . . .

Redskins beat the Eagles. A female non-fan wins the office pool by picking 12 winners. Her strategy? She picked the teams she previously had heard of. . . .

It’s time for TSN to change the name of its Sunday morning show The Reporters to The Dave Hodge Show. Either that, or get the host to talk less. When Hodge interrupts panel members as he regularly does someone should throw a pencil. . . .

TSN starts its post-football game SportsCentre with Montreal and Pittsburgh in the NHL. We really are a Hockey Nation. . . . Hey, the Penguins are trying to goon the Habs. That's Crosby and Recchi in the penalty box in OT as the Pens lose. And it's only the silly season!
