More from Monday . . .

Craig West, the veteran voice (that means he is very old) of the Tri-City Americans, tells us that former Kelowna Rockets G Kelly Guard has signed with the China Sharks of the Asian Hockey League. . . . Former WHLers Kevin Korol, Jason Beeman and Keegan McAvoy also are in Beijing. . . . Hmm, wonder how the Chinese will react to Guard’s big white pads, assuming he still has them. Man, those things were big enough to ski on. . . .

The Red Deer Rebels finally found a place for F Luke Betts. The 18-year-old from Maple Ridge has been dealt to the Spokane Chiefs for F Cody Esposito, 18, of Airdrie, Alta. . . . Betts has been on the Rebels’ suspended list since refusing a trade to the Prince Albert Raiders late last month. . . . Esposito, who will play for the Rebels on Tuesday against the host Kootenay Ice, had eight points and 73 penalty minutes in 40 games with the Chiefs last season. This season, he had 36 penalty minutes in 16 games. . . . Betts has seven points and 52 penalty minutes in 84 career regular-season games with Red Deer. . . .

Spokane has sent G James Reid, 17, home to Calgary to await reassignment. He will remain on their protected list. Reid didn’t get into any of Chiefs’ first 23 games, with Kevin Armstrong and Dustin Tokarski getting all the minutes. . . .

The Regina Pats, presently on a tour of the U.S. Division, could have two fresh new faces in their lineup Tuesday when they meet the Winter Hawks in Portland. . . . They have added C Jordan Weal, 15, from the major midget Vancouver-North West Giants, and F Todd Kennedy, 17, from the BCHL’s Nanaimo Clippers, to their traveling party. . . . Weal, who will play in Portland, leads the B.C. major midget league with 39 points, 13 of them goals, in 16 games.
