A quiet Thursday

G Matt Ferraro, the son of former WHLer/NHLer Ray Ferraro, has joined the NAHL's Alpena IceDiggers, who play out of Alpena, Mich. Matt, 19, started the season with the BCHL's Cowichan Valley Capitals. His younger brother, Landon, 16, is a centre with the Red Deer Rebels. . . .

Long-time scout Brian Fortin has been named the Kamloops Blazers' interim director of hockey operations. This is the latest move resulting from the Nov. 7 decision to fire general manager and head coach Dean Clark. The Blazers now have an interim head coach (Greg Hawgood) and an interim director of hockey operations. According to a press release from the Blazers, Fortin "will be the 'point man' on any personnel negotiations with other clubs, and will also resume responsibility for the scouting department and the director of player personnel." . . . Fortin is listed in the WHL's 2007-08 Guide as a scout. Which means he has leapfrogged Gord Loiselle, the club's director of player personnel, who was hired by Clark after leaving the Portland Winter Hawks.
