The Saskatoon Blades have acquired F Mike Reich, 19, from the Vancouver Giants for a 2009 seventh-round bantam draft pick. It’s the second trade for Reich this season as the Giants had gotten him from the Regina Pats. Reich, who is from Craik, Sask., had four points in 13 games with the Giants. . . . On Sept. 27, Reich, who also has played with the Spokane Chiefs and Calgary Hitmen, went to Vancouver with D Craig Schira, 19, for C Tim Kraus, 20, and D Juraj Valach, 18. . . .

You have to think that maybe, just maybe, the Prince George Cougars aren’t too happy with the WHL office these days. That’s because the WHL office has rescheduled a Prince George home game, costing the Cougars a Friday night home date. . . . The game with the Vancouver Giants, originally scheduled for Nov. 30, now will be played on Nov. 29. . . . The game also has been promoted for a few weeks as Meet the Pack Night, with the Prince George Citizen heavily involved in getting carriers and clientele to the game. . . . The WHL mandated the change because of a whole lot of travel concerns. . . . Players from both teams are involved in an ADT Challenge game – Team WHL vs. a Russian side – on Nov. 28 in Cranbrook. . . . Don’t be surprised if Vancouver G Tyson Sexsmith doesn’t play for Team WHL in Medicine Hat on Nov. 29, allowing him to get to Prince George. And the same holds for Vancouver head coach Don Hay, who is on the Team WHL staff. . . . As well, the Cougars are scheduled to play the Rebels in Red Deer on Dec. 1, while the Giants have to scurry home to play the Everett Silvertips that same night. . . .
It was last season when Vancouver majority owner Ron Toigo, his team embroiled in a nasty rivalry with Kamloops that threatened a couple of times to go over the edge, ventured that then-Blazers general manager and head coach Dean Clark was running the league. With Clark having been dismissed by the Blazers on Nov. 7, the question has to be asked: Who is running the league now? . . . Actually, it is fair to wonder who is running the officiating committee? Clark had been the chairman of said bunch. . . .
Two games scheduled for Sunday have had their starting times changed due to the CFL Western Conference semifinal between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and B.C. Lions in Vancouver. That game is to begin at 1:30 p.m. PST. . . . So the WHL game in Prince Albert between the Raiders and Calgary Hitmen now will begin at 7:30 p.m. local time. . . . The game in Chilliwack between the Bruins and Everett Silvertips will begin at 7 p.m. . . .
