Friday's highlights. . . .

FRIDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

In Saskatoon, the Lethbridge Hurricanes ran their winning streak to six games with a 5-2 victory over the Blades. . . . Lethbridge (15-7-1-1) has won 10 of 11 in moving to the top of the Central Division. . . . The Blades (8-13-1-0) had won four of their last five games, with seven of their eight victories coming on home ice. . . . F Colton Sceviour, acquired last week from the Portland Winter Hawks, figured in all the Lethbridge goals, scoring three of them. He has five goals this season. . . . Linemates Mitch Fadden and Zach Boychuk also had big nights. Fadden added two goals – he has 13 – and two assists, while Boychuk had three assists. . . . F Colton Gillies scored both Saskatoon goals, giving him 10. . . . Saskatoon lost two key defencemen on the same second-period play, as John Flatters was ejected for a check from behind on Nick Hotson and Teigan Zahn was tossed for becoming involved in a subsequent scrap. . . .

In Spokane, LW Drayson Bowman scored twice, giving him 17, as the Chiefs beat the Regina Pats 4-2 in a battle of division leaders. . . . Bowman, with five goals in his last two games, broke a 1-1 tie at 16:16 of the first period and scored the eventual game-winner on the PP at 8:16 of the second. . . . He has a WHL-high five game-winners. . . . The Chiefs (16-3-1-2) have won 13 of 15. . . . The Pats are 16-9-0-0. . . . C Jordan Eberle, Regina’s 17-year-old phe-e-e-e-e-nom, scored his 20th of the season 2:16 into the first on the PP. . . . G Kevin Armstrong made 31 saves for the Chiefs. . . .


In Swift Current, the Broncos scored the game’s last four goals as they beat the Brandon Wheat Kings, 4-1. . . . Swift Current (13-6-0-4) had lost two straight going into the game. In fact, the Broncos has lost two of their last three home games. . . . Brandon (14-9-0-1) had won three of its last four. . . . The Wheat Kings surrendered one PP goal, meaning they have allowed five such goals in 55 opportunities in 12 road games. . . . RW Dale Weise had a goal and an assist for the Broncos, while D Michael Wilson had two helpers. . . .

In Kennewick, Wash., the Tri-City Americans scored twice against the WHL’s poorest penalty-killing team and beat the Prince George Cougars, 3-2. . . . The Americans (16-5-0-0) have won three in a row. They beat the visiting Cougars 4-2 on Wednesday. . . . The Cougars (9-16-0-0) have lost seven straight after they had climbed all the way from 1-6 to 9-9. . . . Tri-City LW Colton Yellow Horn had a goal, giving him 11 points, including five goals, in his last five games. . . . The game’s key score came from D Jarrett Toll when he scored shorthanded at 19:49 of the second period to give the home side a 3-1 lead. . . . D Patrik Magnusson had both P.G. goals. . . . Cougars G Real Cyr stopped 44 shots. . . .

In Vancouver, D Jonathan Blum scored his fifth goal of the season at 3:44 of OT to give the Giants a 3-1 victory over the Chilliwack Bruins before 10,171 fans. . . . The Giants (17-4-1-2) have won six in a row. . . . F Evan Pighin of the Bruins (13-7-3-0) got the game’s first goal, 6:08 into the second. . . . C Mario Bliznak tied it at 11:33 of the second. . . . Chilliwack C Mark Santorelli, the WHL’s leading point-getter, drew an assist to run his point streak to 13 games. But RW Oscar Moller had his streak end at 12 games. . . . C Casey Pierro-Zabotel, 19, made his debut with the Giants but didn’t figure in the scoring. . . . Vancouver D Craig Schira left with an apparent shoulder injury during the overtime period. . . .


In Edmonton, the Oil Kings scored the game’s first goal and then gave up three in a row as they fell 3-1 to the Kootenay Ice. . . . The Ice (12-10-2-0) ran its winning streak to five, but F Andrew Bailey had his six-game point streak snapped. He had 13 points over that stretch. . . . The Oil Kings (9-11-1-3) have lost four in a row. . . . F Dustin Sylvester’s 11th goal, at 1:56 of the third period on the PP, broke a 1-1 tie. . . . Ice F Steven Da Silva later scored his 13th of the season into an empty net. . . .

In Everett, C Zack Dailey’s shorthanded goal 31 seconds into overtime gave the Silvertips a 3-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets. . . . The Silvertips (12-10-0-1) snapped a four-game losing streak. . . . The Rockets (11-7-2-2) have points in each of their last nine games (6-0-1-2). . . . Kelowna led 2-0 after the first period on goals from C Colin Long and LW Jamie Benn. . . . F Kyle Beach, who is from Kelowna, scored his 15th and 16th in the second period for Everett. . . . Everett D Taylor Ellington took a delay of game penalty at 19:33 of the third period. Dailey scored his second goal of the season, unassisted, early in the OT period. . . . Kelowna was 0-for-6 on the PP; Everett was 0-for-3. . . . Everett RW Dan Gender (shoulder) left in the third period and may not play Saturday against visiting Vancouver. . . .

In Medicine Hat, C Tyler Ennis had two goals as the Tigers dumped the Seattle Thunderbirds, 5-1. . . . The Tigers (14-8-2-0) has lost five of six. They are 11-5-0-0 at home but had lost four of their last five in the friendly confines. . . . The Thunderbirds (8-8-3-1) have lost four straight on a swing through the Central Division. . . . The Tigers were 0-for-7 on the PP; the Thunderbirds were 0-for-3. . . . Ennis, who felt terrible after taking a couple of penalties late in a 3-2 loss to the visiting Regina Pats on Wednesday, now has 15 goals on the season. . . .


In Moose Jaw, the Calgary Hitmen scored four times on the power-play in beating the Warriors, 6-1. . . . Calgary’s PP, which went into the game clicking at only 8.3 per cent on the road, was 4-for-8. . . . The Warriors (9-8-3-1) lost their fifth straight game. . . . D Paul Postma had two goals and an assist for the Hitmen (15-8-0-1). . . . Calgary D Michael Stone had four assists, all of them on the PP, and came out of the game minus-1. . . . The Warriors were 0-for-6 on the PP. . . .

In Portland, the Kamloops Blazers twice came from behind as they beat the Winter Hawks, 4-2. . . . Portland (3-18-0-0) held a 1-0 lead in the first period and led 2-1 late in the second. . . . Kamloops D Victor Bartley tied the game 2-2 at 19:38 of the second. The Blazers won it with third-period goals from the Salmon Arm boys – Alex Rodgers scored at 1:32 and Tyler Shattock hit the empty net at 19:13. . . . Shattock, who had six goals in seven exhibition games, didn’t score through the regular-season’s first 17 games. He now has four goals in his last five games. . . . The Blazers (10-10-1-1) are 4-1-0-0 in their last five.
