Northland Properties, of which Kamloops Blazers majority owner Tom Gaglardi is president, has bought into the $1-billion Revelstoke Mountain Resort development. Located on Mount MacKenzie, six km southeast of Revelstoke, the resort’s grand opening is set for Dec. 22. Gaglardi told the Vancouver Sun his family paid "well into the eight figures" and now is one of four partners. According to a Sun story by Bruce Constantineau, “The resort is expected to be completed over 15 years and will ultimately include more than 5,000 new housing units, 500,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, and a signature golf course. Earlier this year, international buyers snapped up all 59 units of a resort condo project in just three hours -- at prices ranging from $310,000 to $1.8 million. Developers said the demand was so strong they released a second building for sale, and 80 per cent of that project's 56 units sold out by the end of the day.” . . .
Germany, including C Max Brandl of the Prince Albert Raiders, beat Austria, including Spokane Chiefs D Stefan Ulmer, 6-3 Saturday to win the World Junior Championship (Division I, Group A) in Bad Tolz, Germany. . . . Brandl had a goal and two assists in the tournament. Ulmer had a goal and an assist. . . . Germany earns promotion to the top division of the WJC and will compete in Ottawa in 2009. Lithuania was relegated. . . .

In Saskatoon, LW Jamie Benn’s goal with one second left in overtime gave the Kelowna Rockets a 3-2 victory over the Blades. . . . Saskatoon held leads at 1-0 and 2-1. . . . Benn won it with his 17th goal of the season. . . . Kelowna (20-11-2-4) won its last three games on a six-game Prairie swing. C Cody Almond scored his seventh goal of the season for Kelowna; it was his first goal since Nov. 7 and the first time he has scored on the road this season. . . . In Cranbrook, the Kootenay Ice got off to a 3-0 first-period lead and hung on for a 4-3 victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. . . . The Ice beat the Hurricanes by that same score on Friday night in Lethbridge. . . . D Chad Greenan and RW Andrew Bailey scored PP goals and C Steve Da Silva sniped while shorthanded to get the Ice off to a terrific start. . . . RW Michael Stickland gave the home side a 4-0 lead on the PP at 12:35 of the second period. . . . In Everett, F Clayton Bauer’s goal with 2:45 left in the third period gave the Everett Silvertips a 4-3 victory over the Portland Winter Hawks. . . .
