In Calgary, C Brendan Rowinski scored one goal and set up another as the Hitmen dumped the Medicine Hat Tigers, 2-1. . . . Rowinski’s third goal of the season, at 12:05 of the third period, broke a 1-1 tie. He fell into the crease and took G Ryan Holfeld and the puck into the net with him. . . . Rowinski set up Calgary’s other goal by winning a faceoff and getting the puck to D Keith Seabrook, who scored his second goal of the season. . . . D Trevor Glass had given the Tigers a 1-0 lead at 19:53 of the first period. . . . The victory sent Calgary (23-11-1-2) into the Christmas break atop the Eastern Conference, one point up on the Lethbridge Hurricanes. . . .

In Edmonton, the Red Deer Rebels scored a 4-3 shootout victory over the Oil Kings. . . . F Brent Raedeke forced OT with a goal at 15:31 of the third period. . . . The Rebels got goals from F Brennan Sonne and F Carter Smith in the circus, while F Brent Henke, who shot first, was the only Edmonton skater to score. . . . In Portland, RW Shane Harper had a goal and two assists as the Everett Silvertips dropped the Winter Hawks, 6-1. . . .
