Nixon has five points in three games since being acquired from the Kamloops Blazers. . . . The Hitmen (31-12-1-2) were coming off a six-day break. They now have won a season-high seven in a row. . . . Calgary has a seven-point lead atop the Eastern Conference. . . . The Oil Kings (15-22-3-6) have lost three in a row. . . . C Ryan White had a goal and an assist for Calgary. White, who is from Brandon, and Nixon, who is from Russell, Man., are friends. . . . D Karl Alzner, in his return from helping Canada win goal at the World Junior Championship, had two assists. . . . Edmonton D Cameron Cepek and Calgary RW Ian Schultz fought three seconds after the opening faceoff. . . . It turns out the genesis of that bout came two weeks earlier in Edmonton.
"Cepek asked me last game to go off the opening faceoff, but I said `no' because I had hurt my hand a couple of games before," Schultz told Scott Fisher of the Calgary Sun.
