A couple of things in the early going of Aug. 7 . . .
1. Happy Birthday to Sidney Crosby, who turns 21 today. I don't mind sharing the day with him.
2. A source south of the 49th indicates the Spokane Chiefs are expected to promote assistant coach Hardy Sauter to head coach today.
3. The WHL gets around to releasing its schedule today. At some point, you’ll be able to find it at whl.ca.

THE MacBETH REPORT: D Jason Goulet (Saskatoon/Prince Albert) signed with Basingstoke Bisons (UK Elite Hockey League). He was with Dayton and Bakersfield in the ECHL last season. He is being billed as the “Beast of Basingstoke.” Check it out right here.
