Cougars part ways with Hunt

The Prince George Citizen is reporting that right-winger Dale Hunt, 18, has been sent home by the Cougars.
Hunt was the third overall pick in the 2005 bantam draft. He has been in five games this season, with one goal and two assists. He scored the Cougar’s first goal this season but hasn’t scored since then. He was a healthy scratch for games Friday in Kamloops and Saturday in Kelowna.
Hunt is from Sanford, Man. He returned home from Kelowna with the team and then left for home Sunday.
"We've sent Dale home," Cougars head coach Drew Schoneck told the Citizen, adding that Hunt has "played his last game as a Prince George Cougar.
"We came to an agreement that it's probably best for him to leave the group and we'll try to accommodate him with a trade. He was a healthy scratch on Friday and he was one of the top-end guys I challenged to be better (before Wednesday's home game against Prince Albert), and I didn't feel his game elevated as much as the other guys. He didn't like being a healthy scratch, so it's better we part ways.
"We were coming down this road faster than probably what people thought and this was going to happen sooner or later with him. We're trying to find the right group here and I think we've come a million miles with the chemistry and culture in our room. We still have some things to clean up and this was one of them."
Hunt went into this season with 33 points and 54 penalty minutes in 106 regular-season games.
