Some player moves, etc. . . .

JUST NOTES: The Prince George Cougars have dropped D Trevor Bauer, 18. From Torrington, Alta., Bauer played in 22 games last season and had dressed for five this season. The Cougars now are carrying seven defencemen. . . . Calvin Pickard of the Seattle Thunderbirds is the ADT CHL goaltender of the week. Pickard, 16, was 1-0-0-1 with a 0.48 GAA and a .978 save percentage last week. That included his first career WHL shutout, a 4-0 blanking of the Winter Hawks in Portland on Saturday. . . . The Thunderbirds visit the Tri-City Americans on Friday night, meaning it very well might be a first in WHL history — brothers starting in goal for each team. Pickard’s older brother, Chet, is the Americans’ veteran starter.

Sophomore RW Ryan Howse may be back in the Chilliwack Bruins‚ lineup Saturday against the host Kootenay Ice. He has been out since suffering a concussion on Oct. 3 in Prince George. . . . The Kelowna Rockets dealt G Torrie Jung, 19, to the Lethbridge Hurricanes for a 2010 sixth-round draft pick. Should Jung stay with the Hurricanes through 2009-10, the pick is upgraded to the fifth round. Jung was a seventh-round selection by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL’s 2007 draft. The Rockets acquired G Kris Lazaruk, 20, from the Kootenay Ice as the season opened, and Jung was sent home to await a trade. . . . Lethbridge now has three goaltenders, the others being sophomore Juha Metsola, 19, and freshman Michael Tadjdeh, 17, who got his first WHL victory on Wednesday. . . . The Hurricanes visit Kelowna on Nov. 1.

More later, including a 20-year-old wrapper.
