Some Thursday stuff . . .

G Dan Spence, who lost out in the 20-year-old game with the Calgary Hitmen last week, has joined the OHL’s Sarnia Sting.
The Sting posted a press release about the move on their website on Wednesday night.
Spence, from Langley, B.C., spent four seasons with the Hitmen, putting up a 2.46 GAA. He holds Hitmen franchise records for victories, games played, minutes played and saves. In his last start, on Sept. 30, he blanked the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers, 4-0.
With Spence’s signing, the Sting released G Matt Hache, another 20-year-old. Yes, when one domino falls . . .
The Sting’s other goaltender is Shayne Campbell, who turns 16 on Nov. 16. So you know that Spence is going to play and play and play in Sarnia.

The Edmonton Oil Kings will be without G Dalyn Flette for up to six weeks with an ankle injury. They aren’t yet sure whether Flette, 18, needs surgery. But now we know why the Oil Kings went out and got veteran G Torrie Jung from the Lethbridge Hurricanes this week.
---
The Brandon Wheat Kings have designated D Alexander Grill Donovan, 18, for assignment and are trying to trade the Calgary native. He was the 113th selection in the 2005 bantam draft. Grill Donovan had gotten into five of the club’s 12 games and had one minor penalty. As the Wheat Kings head out on a western swing, they are carrying 25 players, including eight defencemen. . . . The Wheat Kings, having won four of their last five games, open their trip Saturday against the Rockets in Kelowna and meet the Blazers in Kamloops on Sunday.
