In Edmonton, G Tyson Sexsmith stopped 10 shots to help the Vancouver Giants to a 6-0 victory over the Oil Kings. . . . Sexsmith now has 21 career shutouts, tying the WHL record. He now shares it with Bryan Bridges (Kootenay Ice/Seattle Thunderbirds, 2001-06) and Leland Irving (Everett Silvertips, 2003-08). . . . Sexsmith got there in just 134 games. Bridges played 213 and Irving 215. . . . The Giants (8-0-0-3) are the only WHL team not to have lost in regulation time. . . . The Oil Kings (5-9-1-0) had just one shot in the first period. . . . Edmonton has lost four in a row and has allowed at least five goals in each of its last eight games. . . . It was Vancouver’s first visit to Edmonton, which entered the WHL last season. . . . Edmonton G Cam Lanigan faced 31 shots. Newly acquired G Torrie Jung, a 19-year-old in his third season, was on the bench. . . . Vancouver forwards C Evander Kane and Casey Pierro-Zabotel picked up one point each and have hit the scoreboard in each of Vancouver’s first 11 games. . . . In Calgary, the Hitmen, down 2-0 early, came back for a 4-3 victory over the Red Deer Rebels. . . . The Hitmen (11-3-0-0) have won four in a row, are 9-1 at home and are in first place overall. . . . The Rebels are 4-6-0-5. . . . F Brandon Kozun got his WHL-leading 11th goal of the season for Calgary. . . . Calgary G Michael Snider made 26 saves. Snider, who is 2-0 in his first season, gave up goals on the first two shots he faced. . . . Red Deer G Morgan Clark stopped 36 shots.

In Chilliwack, LW Jamie Benn had two goals and two assists as the Kelowna Rockets beat the Bruins, 5-0. . . . The Rockets (8-6-0-0) have won four of five. . . . The Bruins (5-6-1-1) have lost four in a row. This was their first home game after they went 0-3 on a Central Division swing. . . . Freshman G Adam Brown stopped 15 shots for his first shutout. . . . Medicine Hat scored once on the ensuing PP. . . . “A questionable major with eight minutes left made a big difference in this hockey game,” Prince George head coach Drew Schoneck told the Prince George Citizen. “It was 4-3 for them, but we had the momentum and were all over them. They scored with about a minute-and-a-half left in that and it deflated us, then they got two more. That game could’ve gone either way.”

The Winter Hawks (2-10-0-0) had lost nine in a row and were 0-6 on the road, having been outscored 31-8 in those six games. . . . The Blades (9-5-0-0) had won eight in a row. . . . Saskatoon led 2-0 in the second period and 3-2 early in the third. . . . Portland F Brad Ross forced OT with his fourth goal of the season at 4:26. . . .
