Thursday's done

THE MacBETH REPORT: D Jason Beckett (Seattle) signed with Dresden (Germany 2.Bundesliga). He was with Fort Wayne (IHL) to start this season. . . . F Tyler Willis (Swift Current/Seattle) has left Newcastle (UK Elite Hockey League) to sign with Kalamazoo (IHL). It was "too good an offer" to pass up from Kalamazoo, according to Newcastle GM Jaimie Longmuir. In 21 games with Newcastle this season, Willis had four goals, five assists, and 72 penalty minutes.

How serious is the situation between the Regina Pats and their landlord, the Regina Exhbition Association? Greg Harder of the Regina Leader-Post, who originally broke the story that the Pats’ ownership was exploring its options, now is reporting that WHL commissioner Ron Robinson has become involved. According to Harder, Robison “is stepping in to mediate the dispute.” . . . Robison and Pats owner Russ Parker already have met with Mark Allan, the REA’s president and CEO. . . . JUST NOTES: The Vancouver Giants are expecting a crowd of around 10,000 fans for Friday night’s clash with the visiting Kelowna Rockets. The game, which will be televised by Shaw, is part of a CIBC Read To Succeed promotion that involves Giants players and elementary school children. The Giants beat the host Rockets 3-1 on Wednesday. . . . The Stone brothers, Mark and Michael, will face each other Friday night in Brandon. Mark, 16, is a freshman right winger with the Wheat Kings; Michael, 18, is a defenceman with the Calgary Hitmen. This will be the first time they have met head-on in a WHL game. . . . The Seattle Thunderbirds have signed F Colin Jacobs, who was the 67th overall selection in the 2008 bantam draft. Jacobs, 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, is from Coppell, Texas, and is playing for the midget AAA Dallas Stars.
