More from Saturday . . .

Not to be outdone by the Bonner brothers, who swapped three players and three draft picks on Thursday, the Chynoweth brothers got together Saturday on a major trade that involved four players and two picks.
Jeff Chynoweth, the GM of the Kootenay Ice, traded D John Negrin, 19, and F Michael Stickland, 19, to the Swift Current Broncos. In exchange, Dean Chynoweth, the Broncos’ GM/head coach, gave up F Christian Magnus, 16, D James Martin, 17, and second- and fourth-round picks in the 2010 bantam draft.
Negrin was one of the big fish in the WHL pond this time around but it was believed that he carried a rather large price tag. Well, you be the judge.
Negrin, a second-round pick by Calgary in the 2007 NHL draft, has signed with the Flames and would seem ticketed for their organization next season. He has 36 points in 37 games this season.
Stickland has 25 points, including 13 goals, in 42 games with the Ice this season, after a 50-point season in 2007-08. Stickland opened this season by scoring four times in a 4-2 victory over the visiting Spokane Chiefs in a game that was televised by Shaw.
Magnus, from Saskatoon, was the ninth overall pick in the 2007 bantam draft. He has five points in 31 games with the Broncos.
Martin, from Winnipeg, has four assists and 12 penalty minutes in 31 games with Swift Current. He was the 26th selection in the 2006 bantam draft.
-----
The Kelowna Rockets have acquired C Ian Duval, 20, from the Moose Jaw Warriors for F Jesse Paradis, 17.
The Rockets were left with four 20-year-olds – G Kris Lazaruk, D Tysen Dowzak, LW Ryley Grantham, acquired from Moose Jaw on Thursday, and Duval. Thus, Lazaruk was released. It is believed that he will join either the AJHL’s Camrose Kodiaks or the USHL’s Omaha Lancers.
Duval, who is from Winnipeg, was a seventh-round selection by the Regina Pats in the 2003 bantam draft. He played for the Pats and Calgary Hitmen before ending up with the Warriors. He had 31 points, including 14 goals, in 31 games with Moose Jaw.
The Warriors acquired Duval from Calgary on Oct 12 for F Derek Grant, 18, and a conditional 2010 third-round bantam draft pick. Grant is in his second season with the BCHL’s Langley Chiefs. He has 51 points in 29 games for the Chiefs, but has committed to attend Michigan State.
Paradis, from Winnipeg, is in his second season with the Rockets, who made him the 17th overall pick in the 2006 bantam draft. He had eight points in 36 games with the Rockets.
--------
The Swift Current Broncos have traded G Mark Guggenberger, who turns 20 today, to the Kelowna Rockets for a conditional 2010 fifth-round bantam draft pick.
The Broncos acquired Morgan Clark, 18, from the Red Deer Rebels on Friday, so will have him backing up Travis Yonkman, 20, down the stretch.
Clark, the son of Vancouver Canucks goaltending coach Ian Clark. Morgan was a seventh-round selection by the Canucks in the 2008 NHL draft.
The Broncos acquired Guggenberger from the Portland Winter Hawks exactly one year ago – on his 19th birthday – for a 2009 conditional draft pick (round undisclosed). This season, his vital statistics are 12-11-0-0, 2.81, .914.
The Rockets will go with Guggenberger and Adam Brown, 17, as their goaltenders and have released Kris Lazaruk, 20, who was acquired from the Kootenay Ice on Sept. 20 for a conditional 2010 fourth-round bantam pick.
Lazaruk has played in 26 games, going 12-13-0-0 with a 3.04 GAA and a .874 GAA.
In 19 games, Brown is 13-3-0-0 with a 2.12 GAA and .904 save percentage.
---
The Portland Winter Hawks dealt D Bo Montgomery, 18, to the Medicine Hat Tigers for a conditional 2010 fifth-round draft pick.
The Lethbridge Hurricanes selected Montgomery with the 25th pick of the 2005 bantam draft. They dealt him and a 2007 seventh-round draft pick to Portland for F Kyle Bailey, 20, on Dec. 15, 2006.
Montgomery, who is from Moose Jaw, chose not to report to the Winter Hawks for this season, saying he was instead going to attend the U of Regina and play for the Cougars. He wasn’t able to get his release from the WHL, however, so never did play for the Cougars.
At one time, Montgomery and his family were consulting a lawyer as they explored their options. But they apparently chose not to pursue that option.
-----
The Winter Hawks also acquired LW Max Brandl, 20, from the Prince Albert Raiders for a conditional 2010 eight-round draft pick.
Brandl had 33 points and 60 penalty minutes with the Raiders last season. This season, he has played with two German teams – Ingolstadt ERC and the Landshut Cannibals.
Brandl will join the Winter Hawks once they receive his international release.
Portland went into deadline day with one import player and no 20-year-olds, so had room for Brandl on its roster.
Portland GM/head coach Mike Johnston said earlier in the week that he valued his 1989-born players and that he knows full well the importance of developing your own 20-year-olds. He said at the time that he really wants to be able to chose 20-year-old players from the group of 1989s now with the Winter Hawks.
By not trading away the likes of G Kurtis Mucha and D Travis Ehrhardt, Johnston is going to be able to do just that.
-----
The Winter Hawks also have assigned F Nick Dietrich 19, to the SJHL's Yorkton Terriers. He missed a lot of this season with a broken wrist.
-----
The Kamloops Blazers didn't make any deals on deadline day. But they did announce that Josh Caron, who has been with the junior B Kamloops Storm, will be staying with the Blazers for the remainder of this season. Caron, the 52nd pick in the 2006 bantam draft, made his WHL debut in an 8-6 victory over the Portland Winter Hawks on Wednesday. He engaged in a long scrap with Portland toughie Tayler Jordan.
-----
F Grant Toulmin, 19, has left the Swift Current Broncos and is likely to be assigned to a junior team. Toulmin, from Langley, B.C., had 11 points and 40 penalty minutes in 39 games. . . . The Red Deer Rebels, having dealt G Morgan Clark, 18, to Swift Current, have added G Cam Gorchynski, 16, to their roster. Gorchynski was a fifth-round pick by the Rebels in the 2007 bantam draft. From Chilliwack, B.C., he has been with the major midget Fraser Valley Bruins. . . . Gorchynski will back up Darcy Kuemper, an 18-year-old from Saskatoon who has played well of late and really laid claim to the starter’s job in Red Deer. . . . The Tri-City Americans have assigned D Cam Stevens, 19, to the MJHL’s Winkler Flyers.
