THE MacBETH REPORT: F Martin Sonnenberg (Saskatoon) signed with Timrå (Sweden Elitserien) for the rest of this season after leaving Ambri-Piotta (Swiss NL A). Sonnenberg had five goals and 17 assists in 25 games for Ambri-Piotta this season.

Don MacAdam is the new head coach of the QMJHL’s Lewiston MAINEiacs, who dumped GM/head coach Ed Harding on Monday. MacAdam is a veteran coach with experience at various levels of hockey, including the NHL, AHL and ECHL.

The Brandon Wheat Kings have assigned D Ryley Miller, 16, to the AJHL’s Spruce Grove Saints. The 31st pick in the 2007 bantam draft, Miller had three assists and 25 penalty minutes in 18 games with Brandon.

D Giffen Nyren of the Kamloops Blazers has had his suspension set at one game so will be eligible to return Friday against the visiting Tri-City Americans. Nyren incurred a boarding major and game misconduct in Kamloops on Friday for a hit on D Jesse Craige of the Chilliwack Bruins. Nyren sat out a game in Chilliwack on Saturday.
