Saturday . . .

Spent Saturday in Kelowna and got home late, so this is a bit of a rush job. . . . But here you go. . . .
SATURDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS:
In Kelowna, the Rockets scored the game’s last four goals and beat the Kamloops Blazers, 5-1. . . . Kelowna has won all seven games with Kamloops this season, outscoring the Blazers 36-13 in the process. . . . LW Jamie Benn scored his 35th goal of the season for Kelowna. . . . The Rockets were 3-for-10 on the PP; the Blazers were 0-for-9. . . . Three fights broke out during a stoppage of play at 18:38 of the third period. . . . After the game, Kelowna head coach Ryan Huska exchanged words with Kamloops assistant coach Scott Ferguson under the stands near the Blazers’ dressing room. No shouting took place but it was apparent the two had agreed to disagree. Huska and Ferguson were teammates on the Blazers for two seasons in the early 1990s. At one time, in fact, they were roommates. . . . It was the 2,000th regular-season game in the history of the Kamloops franchise. . . . F Kyle St. Denis scored the Rockets’ second goal, his first since Oct. 22. He has played two games since returning from a broken scaphoid. . . . Kelowna was credited with a 43-15 edge in shots. . . . The Rockets are 6-0-1-1 in their last eight games. They meet the Chiefs, who have won 12 of 13, on Sunday in Spokane.

In Kennewick, Wash., F Mitch Fadden scored four times to lead the Tri-City Americans to a 7-1 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds. . . . Fadden scored three times in the second period. . . . The Thunderbirds have yet to win in five trips to Kennewick this season. . . . Seattle G Jacob DeSerres left the game with a groin injury in the second period. He had stopped all 14 shots he had faced and had a 1-0 lead at the time. . . . Fadden scored on the first shot reliever Calvin Pickard faced and the Americans were off to the races. . . . Tri-City G Chet Pickard, Calvin’s older brother, stopped 27 shots. Chet left the game late in the third period after being upended in a goal-mouth collision. . . . Tri-City D Lane Werbowski drew three assists. . . . D Jarrett Toll played his second game for Tri-City since returning from a broken hand, but D Mitch McColm (head) sat this one out.

In Brandon, F Matt Calvert scored three goals and set up two others as the Wheat Kings dumped the Edmonton Oil Kings, 6-1. . . . It was Calvert’s first career WHL three-goal game. . . . Brandon has won four straight and six in a row at home. . . . Edmonton G Cam Lanigan stopped 32 shots. He went the distance after G Torrie Jung was knocked out by a shot during a 2-1 victory over the Pats in Regina on Friday. . . . F Mark Stone had a goal and three assists for Brandon. Stone, replacing the injured Scott Glennie (broken elbow) on a line with Calvert and Brayden Schenn, has nine points in three games.

In Everett, LW Kyle Beach had quite a return. He set up two goals and scored what proved to be the winner as the Lethbridge Hurricanes edged the Silvertips, 5-4. . . . The Hurricanes scored the game’s first four goals. In fact, they led 3-0 after the first period with Beach having set up two of the goals. . . . Everett has lost 11 of its last 12 games. . . . Beach spent two-plus tumultuous seasons in Everett before being dealt to Lethbridge early in January. . . . Attendance was 7,456, more than a few of whom were wearing Silvertips jersey with Beach’s old No. 12 on the back. . . . One sign on display read: “Life’s a Beach, and then you get traded.” . . . Another, posted behind the Lethbridge penalty box, read: “Reserved for Kyle Beach.”

In Cranbrook, shootout goals by F Drayson Bowman and F Ondrej Roman gave the Spokane Chiefs a 3-2 victory over the Kootenay Ice. . . . The Chiefs led 2-0 after two periods, only to have the Ice tie it on third-period goals by F Dominic Pacovsky and F Kevin King, at 2:40 and 5:56 respectively. . . . F Max Reinhart scored for the Ice in the shootout.

In Medicine Hat, F Sean Ringrose scored three times to lead the Tigers to a 5-2 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors. . . . Ringrose has 22 goals this season, including eight in his last seven games. . . . The Tigers held a 42-17 edge in shots.

In Regina, F Dustin Cameron’s 30th goal of the season stood up as the winner as the Prince Albert Raiders dumped the Pats, 3-1. . . . The victory lifted the Raiders into a tie for eighth with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the Eastern Conference. The Pats, who have lost four in a row and are 3-7-0-1 in their last 11, are 10th, two points behind the Raiders and Oil Kings. . . . F Ryan McDonald got his 30th goal for P.A. at 13:11 of the third period.

In Swift Current, F Geordie Wudrick scored two goals and F Matt Tassone set up two to lead the Broncos to a 5-3 victory over the Red Deer Rebels. . . . A line brawl at 19:59 of the third period resulted in 142 of the game’s 172 minutes in penalties.

In Portland, F Evander Kane scored twice to help the Vancouver Giants to a 4-2 victory over the Winter Hawks. . . . Kane has 35 goals for the Giants, who now are 46-4-0-3. . . . Vancouver outshot Portland, 53-27. . . . The Giants have won 10 straight and meet the Thunderbirds in Kent, Wash., on Sunday. . . . Vancouver G Jamie Tucker stopped 25 shots and now is 15-0-0-1 in his freshman season.
