Roy Stasiuk, the general manager of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, confirmed Friday morning what was first reported Thursday night – head coach Michael Dyck won’t be returning.
The story was first reported by Greg Harder of the Regina Leader-Post.
Dyck’s contract won’t be renewed when it expires May 31.
"A review of hockey operations has been completed and everyone has been evaluated,” Stasiuk said in a statement issued by the team. “There is no one particular or specific reason for this decision. In moving forward we're turning a page and we will maintain working towards our mandate regarding player development.”
Dyck was 131-114-9-13 in 267 games as head coach in Lethbridge.
Assistant coach Matt Kabayama is expected to remain with the organization.

Steve Ewen of the Vancouver Province reports that a couple of NHL teams may have expressed an interest in hiring Giants general manager Scott Bonner.
According to Ewen:
“Scuttlebutt about Giants coach Don Hay leaving for a spot in the pro ranks has become a summertime tradition, but now Bonner’s name is getting tossed out there, too, like earlier this week when CKNW’s Rick Dhaliwal had Bonner speaking to the Edmonton Oilers about a position.
“Bonner has denied that, but noted player agent Gerry Johannson says that he’s been contacted by two teams expressing interest in the only GM the G-Men have ever known.”
The complete story is on Ewen’s blog, The Dub Hub, and there’s a line over there on the left.

It could be that Tom Gaglardi, the Vancouver businessman who is the majority owner of the Kamloops Blazers, is interested in getting involved in the Phoenix Coyotes’ situation.
Quoting what it says are sources closed to the NHL, the National Post has reported that Gaglardi “has contacted the league's head office in New York during the last few days, although the matter was described as ‘not something that's imminent.’"
Gaglardi, the president of Northland Properties Corp., and partner Ryan Beedie were involved in an attempt to purchase the Vancouver Canucks a few years ago. At the time, Francesco Aquilini was in their group. However, Aquilini chose to go off on his own and ended up buying the Canucks. Gaglardi and Beedie later filed a lawsuit over that breakup. They have since lost that battle but have appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada.
