Sunday . . .

The Tri-City Americans have reassigned two players. F Connor Rankin, 15, will play for the B.C. major midget league’s Vancouver-Northwest Giants, while F Marcus Messier, 15, goes to the midget AAA Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox, Sask. Before Messier left, the Americans signed him to a WHL contract.

The Tri-City Americans have welcomed Belarussian F Sergei Drozd, 19, to their dressing room. Drozd, one of the club’s two picks in the CHL’s 2009 import draft, is expected to skate with his new team on Tuesday and will play on the weekend when the Americans’ play host to their annual tournament. . . . Russian G Alexander Pechurski, 19, the Americans’ other import selection, has yet to report and, in fact, is one of four goaltenders shown on the roster of the Continental league’s Metallurg Magnitogorsk. He was a fifth-round pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2008 NHL draft.

The Everett Silvertips got their roster down to 30 on Sunday by reassigning four players – G Andy Desautels, F Mitchell Loose, D Evan Morden and D Nicholas Walters. . . . Walters was the eighth overall pick in the 2009 bantam draft and has signed with the Silvertips. He will play for the midget AAA St. Albert Sabres. . . . Morden, who played last season for the midget AAA Parkland Rangers in Manitoba, went 141st overall in the 2008 draft. He has signed with Everett and will join the MJHL’s Swan Valley Stampeders, who play out of Swan River. . . . Desautels, from Regina, was the 95th pick in the 2009 bantam draft and will play for his hometown midget AAA Regina Pat Canadians. . . . Loose, 16, is a list player from Edmonton. He will play for the midget AAA Knights of Columbus club in Edmonton.

F Brett Sonne (Calgary), F Tyler Shattock (Kamloops) and F Ian Schultz (Calgary) had goals Sunday as the St. Louis Blues scored a 9-6 victory over the Dallas Stars in the NHL prospects tournament at Traverse City, Mich. F Tomas Vincour (Edmonton) scored twice for the Stars. . . . In another game, G Jamie Tucker (Vancouver) stopped 20 of 22 shots as his Columbus Blue Jackets dropped a 2-1 decision to the Minnesota Wild. Tucker played the second half of the game. F Kevin King (Kootenay) had the Wild’s first goal. . . . In a third game, the Detroit Red Wings got goals from D Travis Ehrhardt (Portland) and F Brent Raedeke (Edmonton) in a 6-4 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers. Detroit scored the game’s last five goals, with Raedeke scoring into an empty net. F Evander Kane (Vancouver) had one of Atlanta’s goals.
