Sunday . . .

Steve Ewen of the Vancouver Province is reporting that Giants F Garry Nunn will miss six to eight weeks with a broken leg suffered in a 3-1 victory over the Bruins in Chilliwack on Saturday. . . . Nunn is one of the Giants’ three 20-year-olds, the others being D Ryan Funk and D/F Nolan Toigo. . . . Nunn had 65 points in 69 games last season. . . . The Giants concluded their exhibition season Sunday with an 8-3 victory over the Bruins in North Delta, B.C. . . . Vancouver’s roster is at 30, including Nunn and F Todd Kennedy (knee, two weeks).

The Prince George Cougars got down to three 20-year-olds on Sunday by releasing Jordan Lane, a Whitehorse native who played last season for the QMJHL’s Moncton Wildcats. That leaves the Cougars with D Dallas Jackson, who is out with a shoulder injury, F Tyler Halliday and F Alex Rodgers as their 20-year-olds.

D Lane Werbowski scored the winner as the host Tri-City Americans got past the Lethbridge Hurricanes 6-5 on Sunday at the Red Lion Hotels exhibition tournament. . . . F Connor Rankin had two goals for the Americans. . . . Tri-City D Riley McIntosh tied the game 5-5 at 6:11 of the third period and drew an assist on Werbowski’s winner. . . . Tri-City went 3-3 in the silly season. . . . F Brent Henke had two goals and two assists for the Hurricanes, who went winless in six exhibition games.

The host Prince Albert Raiders dumped the Regina Pats 3-2 on Sunday in the WHL’s final exhibition game for this season. Regina went 1-4-0-2 in the silly season. . . . F Craig McCallum, acquired last week from the Edmonton Oil Kings, scored the winner for P.A., floating one through traffic and past G Damien Ketlo, who made 38 saves. . . . F Jordan Weal had two assists for Regina.
