THE MacBETH REPORT: F Petr Sachl (Tri-City, 1996-97) has signed a one-year contract with Kosice (Slovakia Extraliga). He had nine goals and 14 assists in 45 games with Liberec (Czech Extraliga) last season. . . . D Ryan Jorde (Tri-City, Lethbridge, Moose Jaw, 1997-2002) has been released by the Hull Stingrays (UK Elite). He had no points in six games for the Stingrays this season. The San Jose Mercury News reports that the Prince George Cougars have signed Mattia Bortolotto, 16, to a contract. Bortolotto plays for the San Jose Junior Sharks U18 team.

For the second time this season, the Kelowna Rockets have acquired a goaltender in a trade. The Rockets have picked up G Chad Ketting, 18, from the Swift Current Broncos for a conditional 2011 seventh-round bantam draft pick. . . . The Rockets now have four goaltenders on their roster, although Mark Guggenberger, 20, who has yet to play this season, is to have surgery for a sports hernia and will be out at least another six weeks. . . . With Guggenberger unable to play, the Rockets have been going with sophomore Adam Brown as their starter. Earlier, they acquired G Warren Shymko, 17, from the Tri-City Americans for a 2010 ninth-round bantam draft pick. The Kelowna Daily Courier reports that he is likely to be sent to the SJHL’s Yorkton Terriers on Sunday. . . . Ketting played last season with the KIJHL’s Sicamous Eagles and was with the Broncos before being sent home a week ago to await a deal.

F Jason Bast of the Moose Jaw Warriors has 12 goals this season after scoring three times in a 6-3 victory over the visiting Calgary Hitmen on Saturday. The Hitmen are 7-2-0-0 this season, with both losses at the hands of the Warriors. . . . Saskatoon F Derek Hulak scored with 47 seconds left in the third period to force OT and D Jyri Niemi scored in extra time as the Blades beat the host Lethbridge Hurricanes, 3-2. . . . In Kelowna, the Rockets won their sixth straight game, beating the Prince George Cougars, 7-1. The Cougars have lost five in a row. . . . Goaltender Justin Leclerc came off the bench to stop 20 shots through overtime and three more in a shootout as the Kamloops Blazers scored a 5-4 victory over the visiting Chilliwack Bruins. Leclerc relieved Jon Groenheyde to start the second period with the Blazers trailing 3-1. Kamloops C C.J. Stretch scored the only goal of the circus. . . . The Blazers (7-1-2-0) maintained their hold on first place in the Western Conference. . . . D Joe Morrow had four assists as the host Portland Winterhawks dumped the Prince Albert Raiders, 8-3. Morrow had seven points in 41 games last season; he already has eight points this season. Portland had F Riley Boychuk back in its lineup after he missed a week with a concussion. He had two goals and an assist. The Raiders, who next play Tuesday in Seattle, will attend Sunday’s NFL game between the Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars.
In Vancouver, D Kevin Connauton’s goal with 43 seconds left in the third period gave the Giants a 5-4 victory over Medicine Hat after the Tigers had come back from a 4-1 third-period deficit. . . . F Kyle Beach scored his fourth goal in five games to help the host Spokane Chiefs to a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds. . . . The Edmonton Oil Kings scored the game’s last four goals, two of them by F Tomas Vincour, and beat the Broncos 5-2 in Swift Current. Edmonton’s last two goals were of the empty net variety.
