In Chilliwack, the Bruins won their second game in less than 24 hours, beating the Calgary Hitmen, 4-2. . . . The Bruins had beaten the Blazers 7-1 in Kamloops on Friday night. . . . F Jamie Crooks scored twice as the Bruins erased a 2-1 deficit by scoring the game’s last three goals. . . . Crooks tied the game twice, at 1-1 midway in the first period, and at 2-1 midway in the second. . . . F Ryan Howse snapped the 2-2 tie with his 11th goal at 17:54 of the second period. . . . In Prince George, G Brett Martyniuk was perfect in his first start this season as the Tri-City Americans dropped the Cougars, 4-0. . . . Martyniuk, a sophomore, went into the game having played just 20 minutes this season as the red-hot Drew Owsley has been the go-to guy. On this night, though, Martyniuk stopped 20 shots in recording his first career shutout. He got into 15 games last season. . . . F Brendan Shinnimin led the Tri-City offence with two goals and an assist, while F Adam Hughesman had a goal and two assists. . . . Shinnimin, who had 25 points, including 12 goals, in 64 games last season, has 28 points, 12 of them goals, in 16 games this season. . . . The Cougars fell to 3-12-0-0. . . . Attendance was 1,630, the smallest crowd to watch the Cougars play in their 15 seasons in Prince George. . . . In Lethbridge, D Alexander Urbom was credited with a goal at 19:47 of the third period gave the Brandon Wheat Kings a 5-4 victory over the Hurricanes. . . . The Wheat Kings (10-7-0-2) wrapped up a seven-game road trip with the victory. They went 3-1-0-1 in the U.S. Division, then lost 2-1 to the Kootenay Ice Friday before finishing up in Lethbridge. . . . The Hurricanes (5-11-2-0) came back from a 3-1 deficit and then tied the game 4-4 when F Cam Braes scored with 32 seconds left in the third period. . . . All that did was set the stage for Urbom, a freshman from Sweden, to score his second goal of the game and third of the season. . . . However, Brandon GM/head coach Kelly McCrimmon told the Brandon Sun’s Rob Henderson that the goal actually was scored by F Paul Van de Velde, a 19-year-old who was acquired earlier in the week from the Everett Silvertips. McCrimmon said that Van de Velde, who also scored Brandon’s fourth goal, tipped in Urbom’s wrist shot. . . . F Mitch Maxwell scored Lethbridge’s other three goals, giving him nine this season. . . . Brandon G Andrew Hayes stopped 17 shots, while Lethbridge’s Brandon Anderson turned aside 37. . . . With starter Linden Rowat (leg) out, the Hurricanes had Dylan Tait, an 18-year-old from Lethbridge on the bench.
