Vancouver, Red Deer swap wingers
In a swap of 17-year-old left wingers, the Vancouver Giants have acquired Connor Redmond from the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for Lane Scheidl. . . . Redmond, from Maple Ridge, B.C., is the son of Craig Redmond, a former defenceman who played 191 games in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers. . . . Red Deer selected Connor Redmond with the 11th selection in the 2007 bantam draft. He has two assists and14 penalty minutes in 13 games this season. Last season, he had eight points in 55 games. . . . Scheidl, from Saskatoon, was the 63rd overall pick in the 2007 draft. He has five points, including two goals, in 22 games with Vancouver. . . . The Giants are at home to the Portland Winterhawks tonight and Redmond is expected to be in the lineup.
