F Simon Skrudland has been reassigned by the Kootenay Ice to a yet-to-be named junior A team. Skrudland, 18, had one assist in 17 games this season. A Calgarian, Skrudland was a third-round pick in the 2006 bantam draft. . . . The Ice is carrying 23 players, including 13 forwards and eight defencemen.

The Tri-City Americans have dealt D Lane Werbowski, 18, to the Edmonton Oil Kings for a fourth-round pick in the 2011 bantam draft. Werbowski had two assists and seven penalty minutes and was plus-5 in 18 games this season. From Winnipeg, he was a sixth-round pick in the 2006 bantam draft. All told, he got into 118 games with the Americans, putting up 23 points. . . . The Americans’ roster features 24 players, including 15 forwards and seven defencemen.

In Moose Jaw, D Michael Stone scored both Calgary goals as the Hitmen edged the Warriors 2-1 in overtime. . . . Stone has 12 goals this season, with eight of them coming on the PP. . . . He scored a PP goal at 16:20 of the second period and then got the winner at 2:24 of OT. . . . Moose Jaw F Brandon Rowinski forced OT with his 16th goal with 40.9 seconds left in the third period and his net empty for the extra attacker. . . . Calgary F Brandon Kozun drew two assists. He leads the WHL scoring race with 45 points. . . . Attendance was 2,230. . . . Calgary G Martin Jones stopped 24 shots, while Moose Jaw G Jeff Bosch turned aside 28. . . . Moose Jaw had beaten the Hitmen in the two previous meetings between these teams — 4-3 in Calgary and 6-3 in Moose Jaw. . . .
Calgary now is 19-6-0-0; Moose Jaw is 15-8-1-0. . . . The Warriors were without F Jason Bast, who, according to the Moose Jaw Times-Herald, “broke a bone above his gum line near the side of his nose. He has had surgery postponed once, but was hoping to have surgery today. The Warriors expect to have a better idea how long Bast will be out after the surgery and much will depend on whether his jaw will have to be wired shut.” . . . F Justin Dowling scored twice for the Broncos, while F Adam Lowry drew three assists and F Brad Hoban had a goal and two helpers. . . . Brandon G Andrew Hayes stopped 38 shots. In Lethbridge, G Garrett Zemlak stopped 26 shots as the Prince Albert Raiders blanked the Hurricanes, 3-0. . . . It was Zemlak’s third shutout of the season and the fourth of his career. In his first two shutouts this season, he stopped 39 and 42 shots. . . . The Raiders (12-11-1-2) got goals from Ryan Harrison, his sixth, at 12:08 of the first period and F Brandon Herrod, his 10th, at 10:53 of the second on the PP. In Everett, the Silvertips beat the Kamloops Blazers 4-3 in a shootout. . . . Everett (13-6-1-0) overcame 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 deficits. In other words, the only time it led was in the shootout. . . . F Kellan Tochkin and F Shayne Harper scored for Everett in the shootout, countering a Kamloops goal by C C.J. Stretch. . . . F Tyler Maxwell scored two PP goals for Everett, while F Dan Iwanski got the other shorthanded. . . . Kamloops (10-12-2-1) has given up seven shorthanded goals this season. . . . Kamloops RW Jimmy Bubnick scored twice. . . . Kamloops’ other goal came from F Mark Hall, his first score since March 12, 2008, when he notched his fifth of that season in a 4-2 loss to the visiting Spokane Chiefs. In Kelowna, F Brad Ross scored twice to help the Portland Winterhawks to a 4-2 victory over the Rockets. . . . The Winterhawks (15-8-0-0) also got goals from import forwards Nino Niederreiter and Jacob Berglund. . . . Niederreiter has 22 points, including 10 goals, in 24 games. . . . Ross’s second goal was an empty-netter. He has 11 goals this season. . . . F Geordie Wudrick, in his first game with Kelowna (11-11-1-0) since being acquired earlier in the week from the Swift Current Broncos, scored once. . . . The Rockets have lost four in a row and five of six. . . . Portland G Ian Curtis stopped 27 shots, while Kelowna’s Adam Brown stopped 42. . . . Attendance was 6,087.

In Vancouver, the Chilliwack Bruins got two goals and an assist from F David Robinson as they bounced the Giants, 6-1. . . . The Bruins (10-12-1-3) have played 16 regular-season games in Pacific Coliseum and this was their first regulation-time victory. . . . Since entering the WHL, the Bruins have won four of 32 regular-season meetings with the Giants (15-8-1-2). . . . Robinson set the tone for this one with a fight with Vancouver F James Henry just 14 seconds into the game. Robinson picked up 17 minutes in penalties from that one. . . . Robinson scored the game’s last two goals, both of them coming mere seconds after the expiration of Vancouver power plays. . . . Chilliwack F Ryan Howse scored his 19th goal. . . . Attendance was 5,637. . . . The Giants are 0-2 and have been outscored 11-1 in their last two home games. They lost 5-0 to the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds on Sunday.
