THE MacBETH REPORT: F Jesse Schultz (Tri-City, Prince Albert, Kelowna, 1999-2003) has signed with Nuremburg (Germany DEL) for the rest of this season after his release by Björklöven Umeå (Sweden Allsvenskan) earlier this week. This was arranged in co-operation with Björklöven prior to the release but the Swedish club wanted Nuremburg to make the announcement. Schultz had seven goals and nine assists in 21 games for the Björklöven this season. . . .
D Tomas Fojtik (Portland, 2003-04) has signed with HK Jestrabi Prostejov (Czech Republic 2.Liga) after his release by HK Spisska Nova Ves (Slovakia Extraliga). He had two assists in eight games for Spisska Nova Ves this season. . . .
F Josh Olson (Portland, 2000-02) has signed for the rest of this season with Bolzano (Italy Serie A). He had seven goals and 10 assists in 21 games for Hannover Indians (Germany 2.Bundesliga) prior to his release by the Indians in mid-December. Olson played for Bolzano last season, getting 27 goals and 31 assists in 47 games.

The Prince Albert Raiders have re-assigned G Dalyn Flette, 19, to the AJHL’s Camrose Kodiaks. Flette appeared in seven games with the Raiders, going 2-3-0-1 with a GAA of 4.21. Flette became expendable with the acquisition earlier in the week of G Jamie Tucker, 18, from the Vancouver Giants. . . . Last season, Flette was with the Edmonton Oil Kings when he needed surgery on an ankle. He then finished up the season with Camrose.

The NAHL has added another franchise. A team will begin play in Aberdeen, S.D., next season and play out of the Odde Ice Center. According to a press release from the league: “The membership is conditioned upon on the prospective ownership presenting league-required documents to the NAHL office in order to complete the expansion application process. The club may begin operations once all necessary documents are received in an acceptable form.” . . . More from that press release: “The team's owner, Greg Odde, is also the proprietor of L&O Acres, a farming, trucking and machinery sales business. A hockey enthusiast, Odde has been a member of the Aberdeen Youth Hockey Association in various capacities, including president, for a number of years.” . . . This is of interest to the WHL because South Dakota is one of the WHL’s draftable territories. . . . The NAHL has 19 teams split between four divisions this season.

In Kent, Wash., G Thomas Heemskerk stopped 21 shots to help the Everett Silvertips to a 3-0 victory over the host Seattle Thunderbirds. . . . The shutout was the second of this season for Heemskerk and the fifth of his career. . . . The Silvertips (24-16-2-1) have won five in a row, their longest victory skein of the season. . . . The Thunderbirds (13-23-2-4) have lost six straight. They have been blanked four times this season. . . . F Josh Winquist’s second goal of the season, at 6:42 of the second, stood up as the winner. . . . F Shane Harper added his 26th and D Alex Theriau got his first. . . . Attendance was 3,720. . . . Everett was without F Byron Froese (personal). . . . In Brandon, the Medicine Hat Tigers got two shootout goals and beat the Wheat Kings, 3-2. . . . The Tigers (25-13-3-4) had lost three of four going into this one. The victory vaulted Medicine Hat into first place in the Central Division, one point up on the idle Calgary Hitmen. Calgary has four games in hand. . . . The Wheat Kings (28-13-0-3) had won their last three games. They are three points behind the Eastern Conference-leading Sasaktoon Blades. . . .
