F Brett Connolly, the reigning CHL rookie of the year, hopes to return to skates with the Prince George Cougars by Monday (Jan. 25). Connolly has played in only 12 games with the Cougars this season because of hip injuries. He hasn’t played since Dec. 5 when he left a game in Kamloops.

The WHL has suspended Don Hay, the head coach of the Vancouver Giants, for one game after his team was involved in another multi-fight situation (aka line brawl) during a 7-2 victory over the Cougars in Prince George on Saturday. . . . The Giants also danced with the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Sept. 29, which cost them $250, and with the Red Deer Rebels on Nov. 13. KA-CHING! That one was worth $500. . . . The Giants meet the host Everett Silvertips on Wednesday night and assistants Chad Scharff and Yogi Svejkovsky will handle the Vancouver bench. . . . The Silvertips go into the game having won nine straight games.

The Chilliwack Bruins have cut some ticket prices for post-secondary students (with valid ID) and those fans under the age of 18. The new prices are in effect through the last 10 games of this regular season, starting Saturday when the Kamloops Blazers visit Prospera Centre. According to a press release, “selected seats” will go for $9 per ticket, “a reduction of more than 35 per cent.” . . . Barry Douglas, the Bruins’ director of marketing, explained in a press release: "The reasons for doing this are twofold. As our players continue their push towards the playoffs, we would like them to gain the full home game advantage. Secondly, we feel that it's extremely important to give our younger fans a less-expensive ticket alternative. When studying feedback we recently received from our community, it became evident that this was a very important issue and we have reacted accordingly."

Former WHL G Tyler Love has been hired by the St. Louis Blues as the team’s goaltending consultant. Love (Moose Jaw, Prince George, Saskatoon, 1993-97) will work with Blues goaltenders Chris Mason and Ty Conklin. . . . Love, 33, is a co-owner and instructor for the World Pro Goaltending School in Calgary and has worked with numerous WHL goaltenders since retiring as a player.

Check out the Views from the Booth blog over there on the left for an interesting note out of the SJHL involving the Flin Flon Bombers and allegations of tampering. There also is mention of a $3,000 fine. Yikes!
