Vancouver does goaltender dance
The Vancouver Giants have made a goaltending change. . . . They started by dealing G Jamie Tucker, 18, to the Prince Albert Raiders for a 2011 second-round bantam draft pick. . . . According to Giants GM Scott Bonner: “Jamie had asked for a change of scenery in December, so we began looking for a move that would benefit us, as well as make him happy. Jamie continued to play well for us, and that made the trade easier to complete.” . . . At the same time, the Giants announced that they are bringing in G Derek Tendler from the SJHL’s Estevan Bruins. Tendler, who turned 18 on New Year’s Day, was acquired last month from the Regina Pats. With Estevan, Tendler was 6-9-1-0 with a 2.99 GAA and a .907 save percentage. . . . Tendler will join the Giants in time for Wednesday’s game against the Rebels in Red Deer. . . . The Giants’ other goaltender is Mark Segal, 18, who joined them last month from the BCHL’s Nanaimo Clippers. . . . Tucker, meanwhile, joins Garrett Zemlak, 20, and Dalyn Flette, 19, as Prince Albert’s goaltenders. With the Giants, Tucker was 16-9-0-2 with a 2.62 GAA and a .900 save percentage.
