Coaching change in Spokane

The Spokane Chiefs have chosen not to exercise the option season on the contract of head coach Hardy Sauter.
Sauter was an assistant coach under Bill Peters when the Chiefs won the 2008 Memorial Cup. When Peters left to join the Chicago Blackhawks organization, as head coach of the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, Sauter was promoted to head coach, signing a contract that was for two seasons with a club option on a third season.
In his two seasons as head coach, the Chiefs were 90-45-3-3.
