SECOND PERIOD:
Almost looked like some nastiness behind the Windsor net there. . . . Windsor’s Kenny Ryan takes a shot up high from teammate Marc Cantin and then F Dale Mitchell checks for blood after a collision. . . . F Misha Fisenko goes coast-to-coast and the Hitmen almost get on the board. He may be Calgary’s best forward to this point in the tournament. . . . There’s a slash and Calgary is back on the PP. . . . Grubauer gets a skate on F Jimmy Bubnick’s shot. . . . Bubnick, F Tyler Shattock and D Giffen Nyren all were on Calgary’s PP there, and D Zak Stebner came out on the second unit. All four were acquired from Kamloops, which means the Blazers should all at least get Christmas cards from the Hitmen, if not some 50/50 tickets. . . . Sandwich tray makes its way down the press bench — I take a pass, of course — and Calgary scores while half a Subway product is in my face. . . . It’s F Adam Henrique going high through a screen and it’s 3-0. . . . Time out while I chat with a WHL general manager about a soon-to-be announced coaching vacancy. . . . So I’m down behind the press bench talking to aforementioned GM and Bubnick scores twice to get Calgary back into it. . . . One of these days, Bubnick is going to climb out of bed and realize just how strong he is. And then he’ll become a real hard guy to play against. . . . More on the impending coaching move on this blog in a bit. . . . Back to the game. . . . Windsor has a 23-20 edge in shots and leads 3-2 with 4:38 to play. . . . Calgary folks have been bemoaning the Hitmen habit of digging an early hole and then trying to climb out of it. We saw it Saturday against Moncton and maybe we’re witnessing it again tonight. . . . Nyren looks as though he may have hurt his right arm as he heads for the bench with 1:30 left in the period. . . . There’s another one of those crazy bounces in the north end and Windsor F Scott Timmins looks like he put it off the post. . . . There’s the buzzer. Windsor up 3-2 with a 26-21 edge in shots.
