A quiet Saturday . . .

Steve Pronger has signed on as the first head coach of the NAHL’s Chicago Hitmen. Pronger, who is from Windsor, has coaching experience in the IHL, the Canadian university ranks, and midget AAA. He also has been involved with Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence in Ontario.

The visiting Texas Stars edged the Hershey Bears 4-3 on Saturday to take a 2-0 lead in the AHL final. The Stars will play host to Games 3 and 4 on Monday and Wednesday nights. . . . F Travis Morin broke a 3-3 tie with 46 seconds left in the third period. . . . F Aaron Gagnon, a product of the Seattle Thunderbirds, had one of the Stars’ goals after taking a breakaway pass from another former WHLer, Colton Sceviour.
