THE MacBETH REPORT:
F Radek Duda (Regina, Lethbridge, 1998-2000) signed a one-year plus club option contract with Genève-Servette (Switzerland, NL A). He had 24 goals and 35 assists in 52 games with Plzen (Czech Republic, Extraliga) last season. That was good enough for Duda to finish second in league scoring, two points behind former Seattle and current Liberec F Petr Nedved. . . .
D Jeff Smith (Red Deer, 1998-2002) signed a one-year contract with the Hull Stingrays (England, UK Elite). He had one goal and 12 assists in 37 games with The Hague (Netherlands, Eredivisie) last season.

Les Lazaruk, the veteran radio voice of the Saskatoon Blades, reports that F Matt Revel has turned his back on the WHL team, at least for now. According to the ol’ redhead, Revel, 16, has committed to the BCHL‘s Chilliwack Chiefs. Revel, from Abbotsford, was listed by the Blades last season. He had 41 points, including 25 goals, in 40 games with the major midget Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.

The Everett Silvertips have signed Swiss D Mirco Müller and Czech F Stathis Soumelidis, both of whom were selected in the CHL’s 2012 import draft. . . . Müller was the 11th overall selection and, according to an Everett news release, “was the only 1995-born player in uniform last weekend” for Switzerland’s U-20 team in a tournament in Germany. . . . Soumelidis, 18, is from Brno. He played the last two seasons in Finland with Sport Vaasa.

D Michael Ferland, who put up 90 points with the Brandon Wheat Kings last season, has a court date in Cochrane, Alta., on Sept. 4. A fifth-round selection by the Calgary Flames in the NHL’s 2010 draft, Ferland has been charged with assault and aggravated assault after an incident outside a Cochrane bar on July 29. There’s more right here.

And now for something completely different . . .
