WHAT HAPPENED
The Blazers, down 3-1 with 11 minutes left in the third period against a
team with a strong defensive reputation, dug deep and pulled one out of the
fire.
THE STANDINGS
The Blazers (26-25-1-4) remain fifth in the 10-team Western Conference, but
now are five points ahead of the Silvertips (22-23-6-2), who still hold
three games in hand.
THE SEASON SERIES
These teams won’t meet again in the regular season. The Blazers won the
season series 3-1-0-0, winning once in overtime and twice in a shootout.
THE HOMESTAND
This was the last game in a five-game Kamloops homestand. The Blazers, who
went 3-2-0-0 in the five games, open a six-game road trip on Saturday when
they meet the Rockets in Kelowna.
THE RECORD
The Silvertips lost a franchise-record eight straight games before beating
the host Portland Winter Hawks 5-0 on Saturday. That was Portland's 11th
straight setback.
THE 50-GOAL MAN
Silvertips RW Shane Harper has 50 career WHL goals and is the third Everett
player to score that many. The others were Zach Hamill (87) and Kyle Beach
(65).
