Tuesday . . .

THE MacBETH REPORT: D Anton (Toni) Bader (Swift Current/Tri-City/Calgary/Seattle) and F Shawn McNeil (Kamloops/Red Deer) signed one-year contracts with Duisburg (Germany 2.Bundesliga). . . . McNeil had five goals and 19 assists in 38 games with Kassel (Germany DEL) and seven goals and 13 assists in 15 games with Herne. . . . Duisburg voluntarily dropped one level from the DEL to 2.Bundesliga at the end of this season for financial reasons.
F Zdenek Bahensky (Saskatoon) signed a one-year contract with Mlada Boleslav (Czech Extraliga). He had five goals and three assists in 50 games with Litvinov (Czech Extraliga) this season. The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed F Casey Pierro-Zabotel to a three-year contract. Pierro-Zabotel, who joined the Vancouver Giants from the BCHL’s Merritt Centennials in the middle of the 2007-08 season, won the WHL scoring championship this season. A third-round selection by the Penguins in the 2008 NHL draft, he led the WHL in assists (70) and points (115). . . . The Penguins have assigned him to the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, who are embroiled in a playoff series against the Hershey Bears.

An editorial in the Victoria Times Colonist pretty much buries the Chilliwack Bruins, which must be news to Darryl Porter, the franchise’s governor and acting general manager. That editorial is right here. . . . What is perhaps most interesting in that editorial is how eager the newspaper seems to be to have RG Properties dump the ECHL team, the Salmon Kings, and bring in an AHL or WHL franchise. What’s with that?

JUST NOTES: The Calgary Hitmen led the WHL’s 22 teams with 330 regular-season goals. They have scored three through the first three games of the WHL’s championship final. Four Hitmen who totaled 379 regular-season points -- Brandon Kozun, Brett Sonne, Joel Broda and Kyle Bortis – have combined for, uhh, zero points in the series. . . . Kelowna LW Jamie Benn, who missed Game 3 after taking a hard hit from Calgary D Keith Seabrook in Game 2, is listed as day-to-day.
