A bit more from Thursday . . .

The Kelowna Rockets have claimed RW Tyler Halliday, 20, off waivers from the Prince George Cougars. Halliday, who is from Kamloops, was placed on waivers as the Cougars got down to the mandated maximum of three 20-year-olds. They chose to keep D Dallas Jackson, F Alex Rodger and D Garrett Thiessen. . . . Halliday, at 6-foot-1, brings size and grit to the Rockets, who also added 6-foot-4 Geordie Wudrick in a swap with the Swift Current Broncos earlier in the week. . . . Last season, Halliday had 161 penalty minutes, including 21 scraps, and 25 points in 66 games. This season, he had seven points and 47 penalty minutes in 19 games with the Cougars. . . . The Cougars now have three 20-year-olds, with LW Lucas Bloodoff and G Mark Guggenberger the others. Of course, Guggenberger has yet to play this season after undergoing surgery for a sports hernia. . . . As luck would have it, the Rockets play in Prince George on Friday and Saturday nights.

Yes, it’s that time of year again. What time of year, you ask? Well, here’s part of a press release from the Portland Winterhawks:
“Portland-area teddy bears are mobilizing in record numbers in anticipation of (the) Bank of the West Teddy Bear Toss game, as they hope to bring happiness to more children than ever before. The annual Teddy Bear Toss takes place at the Winterhawks game on Saturday, Nov. 28 against Seattle at the Rose Garden.
“Last year a franchise record 22,392 bears were thrown on the ice, and this season the team wants to beat Calgary’s WHL record of 26,919.
“Fans may recruit bears to the effort by visiting local Dollar Tree stores and buying teddy bears for just $1.”

A year ago, you’ll recall, D Luke Schenn of the Toronto Maple Leafs was all the rage. Today, Schenn, who turned 20 on Nov. 2, finds himself practically nailed to the bench.
This year, D Tyler Myers, another product of the Rockets, is all the rage. Myers, 19, of the Buffalo Sabres is all the rage. There’s another Myers story right here.
